I created Wine Along The 101 over 15 years ago to explore the fascinating world of wine, from the vineyards to the winemakers who pour their heart and soul into producing the very best wines possible.  At that time, I was a TV News Editor for ABC Network News, and wanted to tell those stories through the power of video.  I became a wine convert later in life, after falling in love with everything wine country on a trip through Tuscany.  My epiphany wine, Brunello di Montalcino! ​

Looking to recreate that experience closer to home, I discovered California's vineyard towns.  Over several trips, I broadened my knowledge, tasted new wines, and hit the road looking for more wine adventures.  The list was endless!  So my thirst for wines and what makes them special led me on a journey of discovery, from California wine country to the remote wine regions around the world.

Tasting great wines, meeting the people behind those bottles, and understanding what makes wine unique has fueled my passion for the grape.  For as much as you might know about wine, there is always so much more to learn, especially from a cast of characters that have a story to tell.

I am a wine journalist, writing articles for my website, Wine Along The 101, and previously for Examiner.com for 6 years. I've produced, written and edited videos for Wine Along The 101, exploring the fascinating world of wine through the personalities and wineries.  Hungry for knowledge, I'm always looking for opportunities to increase my understanding of wine.  In 2011, I earned the WSET Advanced (Wine and Spirits Education Trust out of London, the pre-cursor to the Master of Wine study).  That same year, I became an Italian Wine Specialist with the NASA (North American Sommelier Association), earning the highest score in the class.  In 2012, I graduated from UCLA Extension, receiving the Certificate of Wine Business and Management.  I became a French Wine Scholar in 2014, with highest honors, and in 2018, a Master of Rioja.  In 2023, I became a Spanish Wine Scholar, again with highest honors.  I am a member of the LA Wine Writers group, we meet with winemakers, local and international, and discover what makes their wines special.
